Agriculture the largest livelihood provider in India, most so in the vast Rural areas .Indian Government has several Agriculture Schemes in India.

That various farmers are unable to get knowledge about the schemes , They lack behind to take benefit from this and also to grow their farming, so that they are able to fulfill their family’s requirements by their savings and income from farming.

 There are many farmers also who take benefit of these schemes and enjoy their lives happily living with their happy families .

Farmers grow crops mainly to meet their own needs and those of their families. They may produce a small surplus , but the primary goal is self-sufficiency. Farming is the century old activity but it is now considered as the Highest contributor to the GDP of India.

India has several Agriculture Scheme including-

 . Pradhan Mantri Kissan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)

. National Food Security Mission (NFSM)

. National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology (NMAET)

. National Mission on Oilseeds and Planting Crops (NMOOP)

. National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA)

. Soil Health Card (SHC)

. Soil Health Management (SHM)

. Param Paragat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)

. Rainfead Area Development (RAD)

. Rastriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)

 Above mentioned schemes are all governed by the Central Government of India . But there are some schemes from above which were beneficial to farmers deeply and they can easily take benefit from those schemes. I wanted to make aware to all farmers of our nation about the benefit of the schemes so that they can effectively take benefit from that.

Agriculture Schemes in India

Overview: PM-KISAN is a government scheme in India that provides financial support to small and marginal farmers.

Main Objectives:

  • Help farmers afford necessary inputs for better crop health and yield.
  • Protect farmers from relying on moneylenders.
  • Encourage farmers to keep farming.

Benefits:

  • Eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 per year.
  • This amount is paid in three installments of ₹2,000 every four months directly into their bank accounts.

 

Eligibility:

  • Farmers who do not meet the exclusion criteria outlined in the scheme’s guidelines are not eligible.

Enrollment:

  • Farmers can enroll by:
    • Contacting their local patwari, revenue officer, or PM-KISAN Nodal Officer.
    • Registering through the Farmers Corner portal or at Common Service Centres (CSC).

Funding:

  • The scheme is fully funded by the Government of India.

Implementation:

  • The scheme was announced in the 2019 interim budget and started on February 1, 2019.

This program aims to improve the financial security of farmers and support sustainable agriculture in India.

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY)

           Overview: PMKSY is a government program in India aimed at improving water use efficiency and increasing water access for farmers. Launched in 2015-16, it includes several components:

  1.   Per Drop More Crop (PDMC): Focuses on micro irrigation to enhance water efficiency on farms. This includes structures for water conservation, water lifting devices, and efficient irrigation systems.
  2.   Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP): Another component of PMKSY aimed at improving irrigation.
  3.   Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP): Ensures water access for every field.
  4.   Watershed Development: Focuses on managing and developing watersheds.

Funding:

  • The program is funded by both the Central and State Governments, with a cost-sharing ratio of 60:40.
  • For the North Eastern and Himalayan states, the ratio is 90:10.
  • Union Territories receive 100% funding from the Central Government.

Administration:

  • PMKSY is managed by a State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC).
  • A National Executive Committee and an Inter-Ministerial National Steering Committee oversee the program.

The goal of PMKSY is to help farmers improve their livelihoods and live happily with their families. Awareness about these schemes should be spread to benefit more farmers across the nation.
